Katie Colucci

I have always been a Tampa girl, and even decided to attend college at USF to stay close to her family, friends, and the ocean. In high school, I participated in track and cheerleading, but my first love was Taekwondo. I had been involved and taught at several schools throughout my martial arts career and even earned the rank of third degree black belt— but I wanted more.

I had first seen Crossfit by watching people run down the street carrying all sorts of weights. I noticed inside people were lifting barbells and doing pull-ups on rig in a huge warehouse. I ended up driving by this place for several weeks on my way home from my college classes until I had the courage to go inside.

It was love at first workout. I had always been interested in becoming the best version of myself and knew this is where I belonged. I continued Crossfit, moving to several different gyms and making many new friends along the way. I soon realized that she wanted to make Crossfit more than just a hobby. So starting in 2010, I worked hard and started competing in local competitions. In 2015, all my hard work had paid off and finally made it to the big stage at the Crossfit Regionals representing the Atlantic Region on a team of 3 men and 3 women. Since then, I’ve competed at Regionals two additional times— as an individual in 2016 and team again in 2018.

Although I love Crossfit, my goal was always to help other people attain their fitness goals and become the best versions of themselves, just as she had done. Early after college, I became a Certified Physical Education teacher and wanted to work with young kids on improving their self-esteem, lifestyle habits, and fitness. After about 5 years in the school system, a need for a Crossfit Coach had come up at my own gym! I got my L1 trainer certificate and started to coach part time, which eventually turned into my full time career.

My hobbies include spending time with my two cat kids, trail running, rucking, hiking, and will never pass up an opportunity to do a long conditioning workout that most people would probably would cringe at.

I have now been coaching for 8 years, become an ACE Certified personal trainer, CrossFit Level 2 trainer, OPEX, Brand-X, Pre/Post Natal certified, and owner of my own personal training company!
